Valley View Field Trip

Ammonites Galore!   Saturday, March 26th,  9 am.  This trip is an open trip, children welcome.  

If you have a hammer, chisel and muscles there is an ammonite waiting for you.  Meet in the Valley View town square at 9 am.   We will be hunting the Duck Creek formation, Lower Cretaceous.  Finds will include Eopachydiscus, Mortoniceras and Ideohamitesand Elobiceras.  Also, though few, Holaster and Macraster echinoids.  Like most Texas water ways a good rain will improve the possibilities.  

 

Directions:  Hwy 35 North.  Valley View is about 18 miles north of Denton, take the exit for 922. a left will lead you to Valley Views  ‘town square.’  A big thank you to Bob Williams, coleader, who found and arranged with land owners for us to explore this site.

The DPS is a group of professional and amateur paleontologists that want to exchange information, interact, and continue their education in paleontology.  We meet once a month on the second Wednesday evening of the month at Brookhaven College, Building H.
