Lost Creek Dam Field Trip

The Dallas Paleontological Society is hosting a field trip to the Lost Creek Dam site outside of Jacksboro, TX, April 2, 9 am to 1:00 pm.  From the parking location there is about a 1/3 to 1/2 mile walk to the collecting site. You will also have to climb over a gate.

The fossils are from the Carboniferous Pennsylvanian period. They include brachiopods, bivalves, bryozoa, corals, sponges, cephalopods, gastropods, crinoids and many others. The fauna is exceptionally diverse. It is geologically part of the Graham Formation.

Svetlana Earnest will be leading this trip.

No registration with Dallas Paleontological Society is required, but if you are attending and you do not have a Texas State Park pass you will need to obtain a day parking pass at this URL: https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/fort-richardson/fees-facilities/entrance-fees
